M106 - aka NGC 4258 is a medium size spiral galaxy in the constellation Canes Venatici that is
located about 25 Million light-years away from Earth.
It has a much smaller companion irregular galaxy NGC 4248 just above it in the photograph.
In the upper left of the photograph, is the small lenticular galaxy NGC 4346 which is located about 46Million
light-years away from Earth.
Further afield, in the upper right of the photograph is the edge-on spiral galaxy NGC 4217,
which is
located about 60 Million light-years away from Earth.
There are many further distant background galaxies also visible in the photograph.
